Charli Pepper

Marine Biologist

Brief info

Charli has always been absolutely mesmerized by the mysteries of the ocean. This led her to travel to Thailand and partake in Marine Conservation when she finished high school, entirely unaware that this small adventure would change her life. After taking part in scientific research and scuba diving every day, she realized the ocean was not just her passion, it could be her workplace too! She spent the next three years studying Marine Environmental Science BSc, and was lucky enough to travel to Malaysia in her final year to examine the anthropogenic impacts on the rainforests and coral reefs. She utilizes every opportunity to be in water, whilst studying she chose modules where freshwater quarries replaced lecture halls, earning an extra three diving qualifications. Since graduating she has been itching to put the skills and knowledge she learnt at university to good use. She fundraised to travel to Kenya and volunteer at a Sea Turtle rehab centre, here she fell in love with the doe-eyed, gentle, ocean animals. After realizing the devastating impact humans are having on turtle populations, she focused her efforts to protect them. She is excited to be part of the Atoll Marine Centre team, and has made it her mission to rehabilitate as many turtles back to their ocean home as possible.
